FAQs

Starting therapy can bring up a lot of questions, and that's completely okay. Here are some of the ones we hear most often. If yours isn't here, reach out. We're happy to talk it through.

  • How do I know if therapy is right for me?

You don't have to be in crisis to benefit from therapy. If you've been carrying something — stress, patterns in relationships, a heaviness you can't quite name — that's enough. Therapy at Generation Mend is for people who are functioning and still feel like something could be better. You deserve support before you hit a wall.

  • Do you work with Black clients specifically?

Yes, and intentionally. Dr. Siemone is an African American therapist with deep personal and professional commitment to creating affirming, culturally grounded spaces for Black women, couples, and families. You won't have to explain your experience of the world here. That context is already part of how we work.

Generation Mend also welcomes clients from all backgrounds who are drawn to this work and aligned with our values of cultural responsiveness, relational healing, and genuine connection. What matters most is that you feel seen, safe, and ready to do the work.

  • Do you offer therapy for children?

Yes. Generation Mend specializes in therapy for children birth to five alongside their parents and caregivers. This is a particular area of expertise rooted in infant mental health training and Child-Parent Psychotherapy. If you have a young child and you're noticing challenges with behavior, connection, or early development, we'd love to talk.

  • Do you accept insurance? Which insurance plans are accepted?

Yes, we accept insurance plans for therapy. Our therapists are in-network with Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO and Cigna plans. We can check your insurance benefits before you start therapy to help you understand your costs. If we’re not in-network with your insurance, we’ll provide a statement for you to submit to your insurance for reimbursement.

  • What is reflective supervision and who is it for?

Reflective supervision at Generation Mend is a structured, supportive space for helping professionals — therapists, consultants, social workers, and others doing relational work — to process their practice, prevent burnout, and deepen their skills. It's particularly suited for  practitioners who want thoughtful, calm support from someone who understands the weight of this work.

  • Do you offer reduced or sliding scale rates?

Yes! Generation Mend offers sliding scale services through our graduate intern program, adjusting costs based on your financial situation. Contact us for more information or to discuss your needs.

  • Are therapy services virtual or in-person?

Most sessions are conducted virtually, as we are primarily a telehealth private practice. You’ll meet with your therapist through a secure platform using a unique link for your video sessions. We also offer limited in-person availability for those who prefer, providing additional flexibility.

  • What happens in the first therapy session?

The first session is all about determining your needs and whether you and your therapist are a good fit. You’ll discuss your reasons for therapy, current challenges, past experiences, and goals. Your therapist will explain their approach, and you’ll have the chance to ask questions or share preferences for moving forward.

  • How do I get started?

The first step is a free 15-minute consultation. It's a low-pressure conversation to talk about what you're looking for, ask any questions, and see if we're a good fit. You can schedule directly through our booking link or reach out by phone or email.
